While researching the sport and science of Olympic Weightlifting for a 7th grade science fair, Jose quickly discovered an interest for the sport. Soon after he contacted the local Club in Lansing, Michigan. He immediately uncovered the benefits that carried over into other competitive sports he participated in (track, football, and wrestling). With overall increased strength, improved technique, and mental endurance learned from weightlifting,

Jose has been a competitive athlete for over 18 years. After moving to Dallas, Texas in 2010, Jose joined a local Weightlifting club which soon began to attract a majority of CrossFit athletes. It was at this time that he was exposed to the welcoming community of CrossFit that allowed Jose to express his love for Olympic Weightlifting and coaching to a greater number of athletes than ever before. Jose’s goal is to continue to be competitive while helping those around him improve their overall performance no matter their experience or goals.

Jayla started CrossFit in 2015 when she moved to Dallas to work as an elementary art teacher. The challenging workouts were the perfect compliment to long, stressful days in the classroom, and helped to create more physical progress than the distance running she had been doing in the past. With the welcoming community and friends, she has participated in Crossfit and Weightlifting competitions. As a teacher, she wanted to grow her knowledge and share the experience of Crossfit, and received her CFL1 in 2017. Her goal is to give all of her students the excitement and confidence that comes with reaching their goals.

Andrea has been a fixture in the Dallas gym scene for as long as her husband, Jose, has been developing his coaching career. Anytime Jose is coaching or running a meet you can find Andrea by his side.

Andrea has competed in several Olympic Weightlifting and CrossFit competitions. She has a passion for playing soccer and has a love/hate relationship with long distance running. Anna is a senior at the University of Texas at Arlington and is pursuing a degree in microbiology.
Anna stumbled upon CrossFit in 2016 while trying to find a more permanent fitness outlet. She struggled with making progress and staying motivated in globo gyms, and group classes. A coworker suggested that she try the local CrossFit gym, and from there she was hooked! CrossFit taught her that with hard work even the most complex movements are possible, and nothing is beyond your reach. Working hard every day with a supportive community makes the gym feel more like home.

Lucy grew up playing soccer, flag football, and track in middle school and high school. In college, she was a NCAA Division 1 Track & Field athlete and fell in love with strength & conditioning programming and olympic movements through her college S&C training sessions. She retired from pole vault in 2018 and in 2019 she discovered USAW and attended a Level 1 course where her instructor encouraged her to start competing. Soon after, she started her weightlifting career and entered her first weightlifting competition. She found Archon before moving to Frisco in 2021 and began lifting with Jose when she moved to Dallas in 2022.

College athletics also grew her passion and started her career in rehab and strength & conditioning.

She has been a strength and conditioning coach for middle school, high school, college, and olympic/professional athletes. She has also helped injured athletes return to play and performance. Beyond coaching, she also conducts sports science research and is a return to play coordinator. She will be starting a PhD in Exercise Science in the Fall and hopes to continue encouraging strength and conditioning and making it more accessible across all populations.

Angie has an athletic background in martial arts and collegiate tennis. She found her love for weightlifting through CrossFit in 2014, going on to lift in her first meet in 2015. Safe to say she hasn’t done a workout for time since. When Angie moved to Dallas, she took a 5 year break from weightlifting until she found Archon and the community Jose had built. Since starting with Archon, Angie has eared a senior national championship, 8 national medals, a state championship with 3 state records, and has had the opportunity to lift in her first Pan Am Trials.

She loves weightlifting because it encompasses qualities that carryover to life and character outside the gym. She loves the discipline, fortitude, and mental/physical endurance that is required and inevitably built.

Angie hopes to facilitate a lifting space full of energy, confidence, and drive that is contagious. She wants to encourage lifters to set goals that seem out of reach and watch their life radically change while they work for those goals- surprising themselves along the way. It’s a privilege and honor to have the opportunity to be part of everyone’s journey in any way she can.
